    Discerning Shopper –

    Muir Glen is my go-to brand for canned tomatoes. I usually buy the diced tomatoes, but when this variety is not available, I select the whole tomatoes (14.5 ounce can). This brand retains some flavor of the tomato and has does not contain a lot of additives to extend shelf life of the canned item. (I did not rate the ability to blend the whole tomatoes, because I chop them by hand when necessary.)

    I like the natural, pure taste of these tomatoes. They are a bit pricey, but if you are on a special diet (e.g. keto), they are one of the best brands. Just be careful to budget, as they can get pricey.

    A top chef wrote he never buys chopped tomatoes because they contain some unripe tomato pieces, but whole tomatoes are always fully ripe and can easily be cut or mashed. I agree.
